Description: In this session, you will receive an update about our multi-part engagement with Western Telecommunications Consultants (WTC). You will also hear about the RFP in progress that is soliciting options to replace the campus' 20-year-old voice system as well as the voice/data rate and funding model for the campus. Additionally, you will be updated on the University-wide dark fiber network (the ICCN), its capabilities and future. You’ll also hear how the ICCN will provide for very high-performance networking to faculty and researchers on campus and the changes being made to the UIUCnet core to support them. Finally, you’ll see a brief outline of the next UIUCnet backbone upgrade, scheduled for Fall 2008.
